2009 AWARDS

The presentation of awards to patrollers and friends of CSPS is an annual event. There are criteria for each award which must be met in order to receive a particular award. Following is a list of Algonquin Zone award winners for the 2008 - 2009 season.

AWARD CRITERIA RECIPIENT
Angel Pin Awarded to a patroller's spouse or a friend of the Patrol. This person has helped the Patrol in many ways, including time and energy to the benefit of the Patrol. Timmins: Lise Savard;

Special Award Awarded to a non-patroller or business to recognize contributions or donations to a Patrol or Algonquin Zone X-Strata Copper, Kidd Division, Timmins;

Patrol Appreciation An award recognizing outstanding contributions by a patroller in any area of Patrol activity Timmins:

Zone Appreciation An award recognizing a patroller who has made outstanding contributions to the Zone in any area of Ski Patrol activities. Timmins:

Patrol of the Year Awarded to the Patrol judged to be the most outstanding in all phases of Patrol activity and work, including appearance, attitude towards the System, safety consciousness, public relations, fund-raising, equipment and extra duties. Timmins:
Kamiskotia Patrol
Patrol Leader of the Year Awarded to the Patrol Leader who contributed the most to further the aims and objectives of the System and exhibits the most initiative and leadership ability by involving his/her Patrol in all Ski Patrol activities. North Bay:
Natalie Everitt
Algonquin Ski Patroller Awarded to a patroller in recognition of extraordinary performance or contribution in any aspect of patrolling and from any level in the Zone. Timmins:

Alpine Patroller of the Year Awarded to a patroller with more than one year's service who has shown significant ability and has made outstanding contributions in all phases of Ski Patrol activity. North Bay:
Laura Daly-Trottier
Nordic Patroller of the Year Awarded to the patroller who contributes the most to the advancement of nordic patrolling in Algonquin Zone. Sudbury:
Phil Taylor
Rookie of the Year A first year patroller who has made outstanding contributions in all phases of Patrol activity. North Bay:

Senior Advisor & Life Member Awarded to a patroller with more than 10 years service in the Zone and who has served in various capacities North Bay:

Five Years Service Awarded to a patroller currently registered in Algonquin Zone and has served 5 active years as a member of the System Timmins:

Ten Years Service Awarded to a patroller currently registered in Algonquin Zone and has served 10 active years as a member of the System Espanola:

Gord Dysart First Aid Competition Awarded to the 3 member team of patrollers who have demonstrated highest proficiency in First Aid at the Zone First Aid Competition. North Bay:

Awards are also presented to nominees at the Ontario Division and National levels.

This year, BARBARA COURTIN and ANDY GRANDMAISON, members of the Onaping Patrol, Sudbury, were presented with the National LIFE SAVING AWARD. They were formally recognized at the Awards Banquet during the National Annual Conference held May 21 - 24, 2009 in Oshawa, Ontario. Our congratulations go out to Barbara and Andy for using their first aid skills to save a life.
